David is currently looking for new artists to work with.
Who is David Seitz?
David Seitz began his career in the music business working under Grammy-Award winning producers Tom Shepard and Jay Saks at RCA Records in the 1980s but soon realized that working independently was far more rewarding. Being independent has allowed David to work with major label artists (Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Buckley, Aqualung, Michelle Shocked) while maintaining his commitment to artist development and the indie music world (Dar Williams, Stand, John Wesley Harding). His recordings have been nominated for both Grammy Awards and AFIM (Association for Independent Music - the "Indie
Grammys") Awards.
Over the past several years, David has become known for his ability to fuse contemporary and classic recording techniques giving his recordings the depth and warmth of the past, but with a modern sound. His blending of loops and other sampled elements with edgy live instrumentation has become his
trademark and can be found on recordings he made with Aqualung, Stand and Anne Heaton.
In addition, thanks to modern file transfer technology, David is now in demand as a mixer for projects recorded all over the world. The record label or artist simply sends David the files, and David sends the mix back to the artist. Because all mixes are completely recallable (David utilizes Protools, select vintage outboard gear and a customized recording console with Neve Flying Faders), the artist and label can make changes until the mix is exactly as they envisioned.
Currently, David is working on projects for John Wesley Harding, REM, Greene Girl and the Trey Alexander band.

Working With David
Information on the studio, which is located on 40 West 27th Street in Manhattan, can be found on the site at www.shelterislandsound.com.
Although David has worked with many well-known performers, he has a special place in his heart for the developing artist. David and our studio managers work together to craft an album budget that allows new recording artists to make high quality recordings without breaking the bank. The studio is VERY well budgeted, and offers lower per hour rates (as well as full project rates and whatnot). We work with the clients we bring in to structure something that works for them.
